Hairspray Workshop!

We've been back to classes over a month now and it's shaping up to be a very busy and exciting year already!

On Monday we had the wonderful opportunity of doing a Hairspray Workshop with the Oakland's Primary School year 6 classes. This special workshop was led by myself (Cristín Curtin Principal and Singing Teacher) & Matthew Rowland (actor & choreographer). A very special guest also joined us!! We had the pleasure of being joined by actor Piers Bate who has just finished playing Corny Collins in the Hairspray UK Tour!

The children had lots of fun learning the original choreography from Piers of "Nicest Kids in Town", playing drama games as well learning the upbeat tongue twister that is "You Can't Stop the Beat". It's fair to say the children were really put through their paces, but there were big smiles all round through out! A special thank you to Oakland's Primary School, Matthew Rowland and Piers Bate for making the workshop possible!

Mamma Mia Camp - Update

Our Mamma Mia Camp was a fantastic success! The children were all incredibly talented learning scenes, dances and songs in just a matter of a few days. What a talented bunch! We had a very special mid week visitor, Stephanie Clift who plays Lisa in the cast of Mamma Mia West End. The students watched a wonderful performance from Stephanie, performed for her, had a questions and answers session, as well as had time for the all important pictures and autographs! We concluded our busy week with a performance to a packed audience of friends and family. What a wonderful week!

Reach for the Stars Camp - Update

Our Reach for the Stars Camp was a massive success! The children  learnt wonderful songs, created their own star themed story & poem & learn a fantastic star themed dance too. One of the big highlights of the week was the children making their own star themed, customised t-shirts and necklaces. All proudly worn for our performance to friends and family on the Friday. Lovely little stars!

Teacher Success! - Wicked & Singing In the Rain

Two Masquerade teachers will be threading the boards in West End Musicals over the coming months!

Aimee Hodnett Assistant Dance Teacher and Masquerade Juniors Teacher will be joining the cast of "Singing in the Rain" this September. Aimee who has taught at Masquerade for the past two years will be dusting off her tap shoes to join this phenomenal cast!

Katie Kerr who is currently staring in the very successful "Wag! -  The Musical" will be joining the cast of "Wicked"! Katie who has been a guest Drama Teacher at Masquerade over the past couple of months will be playing Madame Morrible and Cover Elphaba in the UK Tour.

Congratulations to you both! The Masquerade staff and students are extremely proud!

The sun is finally out and we definitely have that summery feeling! We will be holding a week long Summer Workshop in Ealing this Summer 2013. A fun packed week of singing, acting and dance not to be missed!

Classes are cancelled tomorrow Saturday 19th January 2013 due to the recent snowfall and forecast further snowfall tonight and tomorrow. This is on the advice of the Oaklands School Manager. Classes will resume as usual next Saturday 26th January 2013. An email has been sent to all parents.
